When I was in first grade my teacher shared a story with us that has stuck with me to this day. After hearing the story of the most beautiful heart I knew that is how I wanted to live my life.
The story starts with a man standing in the middle of his town showing off his perfect heart, not a flaw on it. As the crowd begins to grow an older man steps forward proclaiming that his heart is the most beautiful. The old man shows his heart and its full of scares, wholes, and jagged miss matched pieces.
Of course the man who's heart is perfect doesn't understand and laughs at the old mans claim of having the most beautiful heart. Until the old man explains his claim, the wholes in his heart are from when he shared a piece of his heart to someone, and the jagged pieces are from when someone gave him a piece of their heart. The old man lived a life full of love, and that is how I try and live my life.
After hearing the story how the old man's love can change someone so profoundly, I started living my life with an open heart. Love is what inspires me in everything I do. I personally feel my life is better off for it and I hope that my loving presence in other people's lives have made their life better. Weather I am still in their lives today or we were just a part of each others lives for a time.
